Carnegies

A lot of people like Carnegies, but I am not a fan. This is a bar with ambitions of being a nightclub, featuring dancing on the bar. There are some good-looking women, but a lot more of the women benefit from the dim lighting. It also attracts a regular crowd of expatriate businessmen. Wednesday is ladies night featuring free champagne for the ladies from 9:00 pm. There may be a cover charge in the evenings.

Their food gets good reviews especially their Sunday Brunch. I did enjoy the food, but I still didn't care for their atmosphere. Even with the front windows removed the open air environment was not enough to cover up the smokey odor in the air and the dim lighting was a bit depressing on a Sunday afternoon.

Getting to Carnegies: Anhe Rd, Section 2, No. 100 / 安和路,2段,100號 / Ānhé Lù, 2 duàn, 100 hào

It is South of Xinyi Rd. and Just East of Dunhua Rd. on Anhe Rd., Section 2. It's also very near the Far Eastern Hotel. It is possible to walk from the MRT but it is easier to go by taxi. The closest MRT location is Liuzhangli on the Brown-Muzha Line. From this station, cross the intersection to head west on Heping East Rd. Turn right to head North on Anhe Rd. Fogo Churrascaria Brazilian BBQ

The barbequed meat which comes out fresh from the kitchen on metal skewers is delicious. They had beef, lamb, pork, chicken, shrimp and more. Unfortunately there were two things that make me unable to recommend this restaurant. First, besides the BBQ there is not much else to eat. There is a very small soup and salad bar. Second, when busy the service suffers greatly. The waiters bring the BBQ out of the kitchen and are supposed to distribute it amongst the tables. What ends up happening is they always begin at the tables nearest the kitchen, and the food is gone by the time they reach the back of restaurant. Health Checks at Renai Hospital

仁愛醫院 R é n' à i y ī yu à n Renai Rd., Sec. 4, No. 10 / 仁愛路 4 段 10 號 / Rén'ài Lù Sì Duàn Shí Hào Health Certificate Exams for visas or other reasons are done at Renai Branch, of the Taipei City Hospital . It is located on Renai Rd. near the Fuxing intersection . If you are walking south on Fuxing (from the MRT for example) the Howard Hotel will be on the right hand side you want to be on the left hand side. If coming by MRT , the nearest station is Zhongxiao-Fuxing Station on the Blue and Brown Lines. Hours are 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Monday through Friday .
